Abstract
Rice husk is a type of plant that can be used as a corrosion inhibitor because it contains silica in the husk. This study aims to determine the effectiveness of rice husk extract inhibitors on the corrosion rate of ASTM A36 steel in salt water media. The corrosion rate measurement method used is the weight loss method. The composition of the inhibitor used was 1000 ppm, 1500 ppm, 2000 ppm, 2500 ppm, and the immersion time was 5, 10,15, 20,25 days. The results showed that the highest inhibitor efficiency value occurred at a concentration of 2500 ppm with an immersion time of 25 days, which was 41.81% and the lowest efficiency value occurred at a concentration of 1000 ppm inhibitor with an immersion time of 10 days, which was 17.03%. Inhibitor efficiency values tend to increase for each addition of inhibitor concentration and immersion time. These results indicate that rice husk extract can be used as an alternative natural inhibitor to reduce the corrosion rate. Highest corrosion rate value.
