Abstract

ABSTRACT Hospitals are part of the overall health care system which is organized in providing promotive (health development), preventive (disease prevention), curative (disease treatment) and rehabilitative (health restoration) services, both basic, specialist and subspecialty. In addition, the hospital also functions as a place for education of health workers and a place for research. As a health service institution that provides inpatient, outpatient, emergency services, medical and non-medical services, hospitals use technology that can affect the surrounding environment. Environmental law is a field of study that continues to grow, following the development of society and the object being studied also changes from time to time and all of this demands renewal in various regulations which of course are increasingly complicated. Besides that, Environmental Law is an interesting discipline, although it is new, and very important, considering its role in anticipating the possibility of environmental damage and pollution getting worse. The main problem in this research is how to manage solid waste at Arifin Achmad Hospital in 2021, and what are the negative impacts arising from ineffective waste management at Arifin Achmad General Hospital. This type of research is by way of Empirical, research that takes samples from the population using interviews as the main data collection tool. The nature of descriptive research is to describe the current state of the subject or object of research based on the facts that appear as they are. In implementing the management of solid medical waste at the Arifin Achmad Regional General Hospital, it already has guidelines and SOPs in accordance with Kepmenkes Number 1204/SK/X/2004 concerning hospital environmental health requirements. There are several stages carried out by the hospital namely, Containerization of solid medical waste, Collection of solid medical waste, Transportation of solid medical waste, Temporary storage (TPS) of solid medical waste, and Destruction, and In controlling the impact of implementing solid medical waste management in hospitals Regional general general Arifin Achmad has taken several steps, namely SOP regulations, provision of trash bins according to their type, training and outreach regarding hospital waste, provision of PPE, making waste channels, carrying out needle sticks and exposure to body fluids. Then there are several factors that affect waste treatment, namely: Inadequate solid medical waste management facilities and hospitals that still ignore processing procedures.
