Abstract

At the end of 2019, the world was shocked by the outbreak of the COVID-19 disease in the city of Wuhan, Hubei Province, China which was caused by the coronavirus. This disease epidemic began to attack all over the world including Indonesia. In Indonesia, the first positive case was confirmed by the President of the Republic of Indonesia Jokowidodo on March 2, 2020, in which 2 Indonesian citizens had tested positive for the Coronavirus. And until now COVID-19 has been officially declared a pandemic by WHO. The impact of this pandemic affects some of the psychology of society, this can be seen in a study conducted in China that the COVID-19 pandemic causes mental illness in China. Even studies have shown that at three months or one year (after the pandemic) the psychological impact will remain. This study aims to see how the psychological pressure experienced by the Pekanbaru community during the COVID-19 Pandemic. The study population amounted to 281 subjects who live in the city of Pekanbaru. This research uses quantitative methods with descriptive studies. The sampling technique used was excidental sampling. The scale used in this study uses the DASS-42 questionnaire distributed using the google form link. The results showed that the psychological pressure experienced by the subjects in this study showed very low psychological pressure. The subjects are able to deal with the pandemic that is being experienced.
