Abstract

ABSTRAK The quality of employees is one of the factors in achieving the success for a company. It is undeniable that in the working environment some conflict often occurs, this can happen between employees or employees with superiors. High work conflict can result in low employee motivation. The main objective of this study was to determine the effect of work conflict on employee motivations. As for the subjects of this study amounted to 165 people, who were taken from one company in Pekanbaru using purposive sampling technique. The data collection method used by the author is the work conflict scale from Maulana (2015) which has been modified by the author, amounting to 16 items, and the work motivation scale from Zacharias (2015) which has been adapted by the author, totaling 24 items. The data were analyzed using simple linear regression analysis where the result of the value was -0.468 with p of 0.000 (p <0.05). From the result, the author concluded that work conflict has a significant negative effect on work motivation, which can be interpreted that the higher the level of work conflict, the lower the employee's work motivations. And the conclusion could happen conversely, that the lower the work conflict, the higher the work motivations.
