Abstract
Emotional Maturity is a person's ability in controlling himself and also be able to control emotional patterns well, by not releasing inappropriate emotions such as childish emotions and as well as having a feeling of accepting himself and others as they are. Emotional maturity can be reached in the early adolescent period, on age of 13-17 years. This study aims to find outthe correlation between emotional maturity and verbal violence behaviors on adolescents who live in orphanage. The subjects of this study are 153 children who live in an orphanage in Pekanbaru. The sampling technique in this study uses purposive sampling technique. The instrument in this study applies a Sari Famela emotional maturity scale and modified by the researcher and the verbal violence scale compiled by the researcher and had been assessed the content validity and research instruments by psychologists.While the statistical analysis used in this study is the Pearson product moment correlation analysis. The research data result indicates that there is a correlation between emotional maturity and verbal violence behavior on adolescents who live in orphanages with rxy = 0.793 (p <0.05), the hypothesis in this study is accepted. Hypothesis testing has been carried out using SPSS version 20.0 for windows. It can be concluded that there is a correlation between Emotional Maturity and Verbal Violence Behavior on Adolescents who live in the Pekanbaru Orphanage.
