Abstract

This research aimed at finding out the attitude of environmental care of eighth grade students and the role of teachers of smpn 4 siak hulu in developing the students’ care of environment through adiwiyata program academic year 2018/2019. The method used in this research was survey. Data collection in this study was carried out using observations, questionnaires, interviews and documentation. The population in this study was students of the eighth grade (304 students) and teachers of SMPN Siak Hulu (70 teachers). Proportionale Stratified Random Sampling was used to select the students, which comprised 46 students. For selecting sample of teachers, Slovin formula was used, which comprised 60 teachers. The results of this study found that the students’ care of environment was categorized to enough care with average score of 49.92%. Thus, the students’ care of environment was still low. While the teacher's role in developing the students’ care of environment was categorized to good care with average score of 75.09%. In brief, the teachers have played important role in developing the students’ care of environment.
