Abstract

This study aims to determine the implementation of supervision on the prohibition of the use of fishing gear type Hela Trawl (Trawl) in Selayar District by the Department of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries of the Riau Archipelago Province. The Monitoring Implementation Indicators used include direct supervision and indirect supervision carried out by the Marine, Supervision and Conservation Division at the Marine and Fisheries Service of the Riau Archipelago Province. The type of research located at the Department of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries of the Riau Islands Province is a descriptive survey because this study aims to describe, explain, and describe the existing reality. There are 5 population groups and samples in this study, namely, the Head of the Marine, Supervision and Conservation Division, amounting to 1 person, the Head of the Supervision and Conservation Section of the Riau Islands Province Marine and Fishery Service Branch in Lingga Regency totaling 1 person, and 10 Supervisory Staff. people, fishermen who do not use trawls (Trawl) in Selayar sub-district totaling 113 people, and fishermen using trawls in Selayar sub-district totaling 20 people. The sampling technique used is the census technique and purposive sampling using the Slovin formula. The types and techniques of data collection consist of primary data collected using questionnaires and interviews and secondary data collected by observation and documentation techniques which are sources of data and information as well as information from parties related to this research. Based on this analytical technique, it can be concluded that the implementation of the prohibition on the use of fishing gear of the type of trawl in Selayar District by the Department of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries of the Riau Archipelago Province was quite done. Recommendations that need to be considered are especially regarding the implementation of supervision that must be optimal and evenly distributed so that there is no more fishing using trawls in Selayar District.
