Abstract
Character building phenomenon was still in serious attention from many parties especially in education field. It caused character building was a nation characteristic that had main character especially to students. Especially in Islamic education lesson that related to students’ moral and character, it needed Islamic education teacher’s important role. The method in this research used qualitative research that was conducted at Junior High School 002 Kepenuhan Rokan Hulu Regency by using interview and documentation. The informant was Islamic education teachers at junior high school 002 Kepenuhan Rokan Hulu Regency. Based on research finding that was get some character problems such as impolite, unrespect to teachers, unrespect to friends, high bullying, lack of discipline, lack of appreciate to teachers and friends. Based on interview and documentation result, it was known that Islamic education role in developing students’ character building at junior high school 002 Kepenuhan Rokan Hulu Regency with Islamic education teacher’s role such as praying before starting lesson and doing something, giving surah-surah memorization, always giving advice and doing something good and saying good words, respect to older and appreciate each other, shake hands when meet teacher and greet when meet people and did not doing bad thing. Islamic education teacher had role as model, motivator, leader, faith awareness controller, thinking controller, learning source, facilitator and manager.
