Abstract

The research entitled "Motives for V Live Applications among K-Popers Pekanbaru" is motivated by the high interest in k-pop today, the emergence of news about hate attacks against k-pop artists on the V Live application, as well as k-pop fans who do various ways. so that the idol notices through the V Live application. The V Live application itself is an application that can make fans and idols join in the application to communicate with each other. With the development of increasingly advanced technology, the V Live application provides many service features that can meet the needs of k-pop fans. Of course, k-pop fans have a motive for using the V Live application. The motive itself is an impulse in humans to meet these human needs until the goal is achieved. Humans have a motive for doing something. This study aims to determine the motives for using the V Live application among Pekanbaru k-popers. The concept in this study is to use the McQuail concept. The method used in this study is a qualitative method and the subject is 10 (ten) k-pop fans who use the V Live application originating from Pekanbaru and according to research needs, namely the selection of subjects with purposive sampling technique. The results show that k-pop fans have various reasons for using the V Live application, there are several motives that k-pop fans use the V Live application, namely information motives, personal identity motives, entertainment motives supporting idols and motives for filling spare time. The hope of k-pop fans is to make the V Live application as an application to learn foreign cultures and languages, become a useful entertainment facility for its users and be able to use the V Live application wisely.
