Abstract

Currently, the government requires land that has not been registered in an area, to be registered for the first time, which is carried out simultaneously and covers all objects of land registration. Seeing the news, it turns out that in Kenagaran Jopang Manganti there are still many people who have not registered their Land Ownership Rights. In this thesis entitled "Increasing Public Legal Awareness on Registration of Land Ownership Rights Based on Government Regulation No. 24 of 1997 in Kenagarian Jopang Manganti, Fifty Cities District, West Sumatra Province" intends to identify and increase public legal awareness, as well as to identify obstacles and supporters community in Jopang Manganti to register Land Ownership Rights. This research is included in the typology of empirical research. Data was collected in two ways, namely interviews and filling out questionnaires and analyzed qualitatively and using the approach of legislation and applicable legal principles. The results of this study indicate that the legal awareness of the community in registering their land is still relatively lacking, there are still many people who do not understand the procedures and legal rules that apply to registering their land, this is prone to triggering conflict disputes and falsification of certificates. Barriers to the community in registering their land are economic factors, lack of socialization, and customary land. Then, the supporting factors are the wishes of the community, the solution from the Notary/PPAT, and PRONA. The local government must be more active in accelerating land certification, because if the program has been implemented without prior socialization, most people will not know about it.
