Abstract
Farmers in doing red chili farming, not only to get production but to increase income and be economically feasible so as to improve farmers' welfare. This study aims to analyze: (1) Characteristics and profiles of red chili farmers. (2) Cultivation technique, use of input production facilities and red chili farming labor (3) Analyzing red chili farming. This research was conducted for 5 months starting from October 2018 to March 2019 using a survey method of red chili farmers in Kota Baru Village, Tapung Hilir District, Kampar Regency. Furthermore, the analysis used includes qualitative and quantitative descriptive analysis. The results showed that the red chili farmers in Kota Baru Village were in productive age with an average of 37 years, with an average education level of high school, farming experience for 4.8 years and an average family of 3 dependents. The red chili farming technology carried out by farmers is not in accordance with the technical guidelines for cultivation (Vebriansyah 2018), including: use of types of seeds, fertilizer dosage, and spacing. The results showed that the average area of red chili farming was 0.37 ha. The production cost incurred is Rp. 27,600,293 / arable with fixed costs of Rp. 720,780 / arable and variable costs of Rp. 26,879,512 / arable. The production of red chili that is produced by red chili farmers is 2,475 kg / arable with a selling price of Rp. 35,000 / kg. The gross income received is Rp. 86,612,195 / work, net income of Rp. 59,011,902 / work, family work income of Rp. 6,072,683 / work. Furthermore, the RCR value is 3.05, the BEP unit is 66 (kg), the BEP value is Rp. 2,326,042 / arable. Based on the farming analysis carried out, it shows that the red chili farming cultivated by the red chili farmers in Kota Baru Village is economically feasible and profitable.
