Abstract

Continuous wax problems can cause decreased production, reduced pressure and will even form a gel that will clog and cause the system in the pipeline to suddenly shut down. Hot water is pumped into the pipe network with the hope that wax deposits on the pipe walls will be reduced. With the help of the simulation of the wax handling process on the OLGA software, the wax deposition control is carried out by pumping hot water into the pipe network. Several sensitivity parameters will be carried out in the simulation modeling of the wax deposition process to determine the performance of the hot water method, including injection temperature and time. In this study, the simulation was carried out by modeling the wax attached to the pipe wall with a diameter of 6 inches and a length of 16 km with a wax content of 13.1%. Hot water was injected with various injection temperatures of 70 o o o C, 75 C and with injection times of 18 hours and 24 hours. The greater the temperature and the shorter the injection time, the more C & 80 significant the results of the wax problem. The highest amount of dissolved wax was obtained in scenario 3, which was 143197 kg. Under these conditions, the initial temperature of 80 C continued to drop significantly, this decrease continued to a distance of 8000 m, after reaching a distance of 8000 m the temperature of the injection fluid dropped and stabilized at 24.36 o C. o
