Abstract

This research was motivated by students active learning problem that happened to some students in Akidah Akhlak lesson in Public Islamic Junior High School 1 Pekanbaru City. One of the problems that happened to some students were lack of understanding about the content of lesson that was explained by teacher, lack of understanding about lesson that explained by teacher, in reality, students should show high active learning. The purpose in this research was to know the influence of discussion method on students’ active learning in Class IX akidah akhlak lesson at public Islamic junior high school 1 Pekanbaru city. This research used quantitative with correlation approach. The population and sample in this research were 92 students. Data collection and documentation technique used questionnaire, and WhatsApp group. This research consisted of two variables, X (discussion method) and Y (active learning). The result of hypothesis test analysis with significant score showed P = 0.200 < 0.05, it meant that there was influence of discussion method on students’ active learning in class IX akidah akhlak lesson at public Islamic junior high school 1 Pekanbaru city. The score of influence could be seen from summary table with R square in 0.330 or 33%. It showed that the result of discussion method was influenced by the strength in 33% with very strong criteria. Therefore, it could be concluded in this research findings that there was influence of discussion method on students’ active learning in class IX akidah akhlak lesson at public Islamic junior high school 1 Pekanbaru city.
