Abstract

Role is something that everyone wants when they have a position that is more than the rest of society. In this case, the authors conducted research on the role of the Village Head as a mediator to resolve land disputes that occur between residents, so that the Village Head should have been able to act as a leader in his community and have sufficient experience to reconcile the dispute. Because indeed the aim of the leader in this case is to reconcile the citizens involved in the dispute and also seek results that end in good faith so as not to have prolonged problems. As for the problem in this study concerning the role of the Village Head as a mediator in resolving land disputes and knowing the result of the dispute resolution process, whether it is legally enforceable or not. This research can be classified as observational research by surveying and conducting direct interviews with the Village Head who in this case acts as a mediator in resolving the land dispute. The results of this study regarding the role of the Village Head of Mengkopot as a mediator in resolving land disputes cannot be said to be maximal, this can be seen from the two cases that the author raised regarding land dispute resolution, one of which has not been able to get results. And it can also be seen from the settlement of cases that have obtained peace results in the form of a peace letter, but there are also matters in the settlement procedure that need to be the attention of the Village Head who in this case acts as a mediator, because the disputing parties want the firmnesss and seriousness of the Village Head. To mediate the dispute to completion. Nonetheless, those who are in the respective region still respect and respect the Village Head as Village Leader.
