Abstract
informants in this research were students of class XI.IPA 6 at SMA N 2 Mandau, XI.IPA 1 at MAS YASMI and also XI.Ar-Raudah SMA IT Al-Kautsar where the instrument in this research used an online questionnaire. The questionnaire used is an open questionnaire which is to find out the answers of the students' perceptions which consists of 4 aspects, namely audience analysis, critical analysis, technology analysis and media analysis. Total of open questionnaires given to respondents was 26 statements using a Likert scale in the selection of answers. informants in this study amounted to 90 respondents. The results of this study indicated that students' perceptions of learning English online during this pandemic among others : high school students in Mandau sub-district experienced an increase in how to use technology in learning during study at home, between laptops and hand phones students use more hand phones for learning because it is more practical. When using hand phones in a day is more than 5 hours during learning, students choose to be neutral in the learning media provided by the teacher, no one is too frustrated when learning to use video conference media or social media groups. In addition, there are some students who feel disadvantaged while learning English online, such as having difficulty understanding the material in written English. because some students have difficulties and limited English vocabulary.
