Abstract
The misuse and illicit trafficking of narcotics in Indonesia has spread throughout the country and has been spread in various living environments, both the educational environment, the work environtment, and residential environtment, and the law enforcement environment. One law enforcement agency that is also not free from drug abuse and illicit trafficking is a penitentiary. Correctional Institution is a place to carry out the formation of prisoners and implementation of the Penal Act, a Minister of Law and Human Rights Regulation No. 6/2013 was issued concerning the Standing Orders of State Correctional Institutions and Detention Centers Article 4 Letter (g) The Ministerial Regulation prohibits every prisoner or detainee from storing, making, carrying, distributing, and/or consuming narcotics and/or narcotics precursors and other dangerous drugs. As for the main problem in this research are: How are the efforts of prison officials in preventing the circulation of narcotics in the Class II A Bangkinang Penitentiary. and What are the obstacles that constitute the prison apparatus in preventing the circulation of narcotics in the Class II A Bangkinang Penitentiary. The research method used in this research is classified as obseervational research, by means of a survey, namely research is carried out at the research location using data collection tools. Meanwhile, in terms of its nature, this research is descriptive in nature, which provides a clear and detailed description of the main problem under study. From the results of research and discussion, it can be concluded that, First, the efforts of correctional institutions in preventing the circulation of narcotics in prisons is to maximize searches by examining the luggage and data collection carried out on visitors and taking action against all those who enter Class II A Correctional Institutions. Bangkinang is no exception. Second, the factors that hinder the efforts of prison officials in preventing the circulation of narcotics in Bangkinang Class II A Correctional Institutions are inadequate facilities and infrastructure, lack of female prison guards, and prison officials' lack of knowledge of narcotics.
