Abstract

This study is motivated by the problem of students’ average score at SMK IT Al-Izhar Pekanbaru which indicates that the students have low understanding on products and contracts in Islamic banking, whereas they are educated in a vocational school who are ready to work or continue their education to a higher level. Therefore, the reseacher is interested in doing a study on the students’ knowledge on products and contracts of Islamic Banking at SMK IT Al-Izhar Pekanbaru. The aim of this study is to investigate the level of students’ knowledge on products and contracts of Islamic Banking at SMK IT Al-Izhar Pekanbaru. The subject of this study is the students of SMK IT Al-Izhar Pekanbaru. While the object of this study is the knowledge on products and contracts of Islamic banking. The data sources of this study consist of primary data and secondary data. The sampling technique used is total sampling because the population is less than 100 with a sample of 94 respondents. The data collection technique used is questionnaires. The data analysis technique used is descriptive statistical method. The data collected from the questionnaires are transformed from qualitative into quantitative data to make data recapitulation. Based on the results of this study on the students’ knowledge on products and contracts of Islamic Banking at SMK IT Al-Izhar Pekanbaru, it is found that the ideal score (criteria) is 362. It means that the students’ knowledge on products and contracts of Islamic Banking at SMK IT Al-Izhar Pekanbaru is classified as "know" with a percentage of 77% which is included in the criteria of “strong�. In conclusion, the students know the products and contracts of Islamic banking. The suggestion for further research is that the respondents should be expanded throughout Pekanbaru city.
