Abstract
Gadget Addiction: Using Whatsapp Groups as a Digital Literacy Tool in the Covid-19 Era (Case Study on Middle School and Vocational High School Students in Air Tawar Village, Kateman District, Indragiri Hilir Regency) Â Yogi Saputra 179110196 Â The presence of the WhatsApp Group makes some students use the application only for social media, such as just chatting, video calling, voice calling, and others. Whereas in the application there are benefits that can improve digital literacy such as sharing information about learning, the latest information both domestically and abroad. This study aims to find out how to use WhatsApp Group as a digital literacy advice in the covid-19 era. This study uses a qualitative approach with descriptive methods, this study uses interview, observation, and documentation study data collection techniques with 5 informants as subjects consisting of 3 students from SMK AL-IKHLAS and 2 students from SMP DWIPA ABADI. From the results of this study, it can be seen that this study uses the New Media theory which is a media that uses the internet, technology-based online media, has a flexible character, and has the potential to be interactive. Increasing students' digital literacy skills can be seen from the ability to read, speak, watch, listen, write, understand, respond, access, attract sympathy, and educate.
