Abstract

This research is useful to know in depth about the meaning of Maba Belo Selambar in Ritual Communication Activities (Study on the Karo Customary Chairperson in Sawit Permai Village, Siak Regency). This study focuses on the meaning of Maba Belo Selambar in Ritual Communication Activities. This research method consisted of 4 (four) subject informants, consisting of the head of the HMKI, the head of the II HMKI of the church, the leaders of the custom, which were obtained through purposive sampling. Data collection techniques through observation, interviews, and documentation. The technique of checking the validity of the researchers' data used triangulation of sources. The results of this study indicate the meaning of Maba Belo Selambar which consists of 9 (nine): 1.Amak Mbentar Kehametan (White Mat of Honor), 2. Kampil Percentabin (Skill of Respect) 3. Jungkit (Traditional Cloth), 4. Dagger Manliness), 5. Penindih Money (Dowry Money), 6. Manuk Kuta (Village Chicken), 7. Cimpa Unung-Unung (Fast Pulut Wrapped in Palm Leaves, 8. Nakan Baluten (Honorary Rice), 9. Pinggan Langgami (Honor plate) All of these utensils have such a broad meaning as symbols in the karo tribe.
