Abstract

Foreign investment is indeed needed to support the growth and development of the national economy. The problem that arose later was the rapid development of Foreign Capital Companies that could affect the production and marketing of goods, thus having a fairly serious impact on the national economy. Take, for example, the Foreign Capital Company in the mining sector, Newmont. At the time the Government was about to renegotiate contracts with American companies, Newmont and Freeport, and would enact Law No. 4 of 2009. Due to the circumstances that Newmont was forced to lay off most of its employees, the consequence was that the workers had their salaries cut. Of course this has a big impact on people's income. Not to mention if in the future the Foreign Capital Company withdraws all its capital and profits to its home country. Based on the above background, the formulation of the problem that will be answered in writing this thesis include: How is the Legal Protection Against Foreign Investment in Riau Province? and What Are the Obstacles in Legal Protection Against Foreign Investment in Riau Province? This research when viewed from the type of research can be grouped into observational research research conducted by survey, namely research directly to the research location using data collection tools in the form of interviews. Meanwhile, if viewed from its nature, this writing is descriptive analytical, which means that the research is intended to provide a detailed, clear and systematic description of the main research problems. Legal Protection Against Foreign Investment in Riau Province that the local government guarantees legal certainty for investors who want to invest in Riau Province both in terms of licensing and other facilities provided by the Riau Provincial Government, but every foreign investor and investment company is asked to In carrying out its responsibilities and obligations as regulated in Law No. 25 of 2007 concerning investment, the government will thus provide legal certainty for any rights owned by investors, as well as investment companies in making/investing their investments in Riau Province.
