Abstract

The research conducted by the author is entitled an analysis of the use of journalistic language characteristics in the headlines of the Riau Pos daily newspaper. The importance of this problem is examined to determine the use of the characteristics of journalistic language in the headlines of newspaper that are read by the people of Riau in general. The problem in this research is how is the eror in using the characteristics of journalistic language in the headlines of the April 2020 edition of Riau Pos newspaper. This study aims to describe the information and data about the misuse of journalistic language characteristics in the headlines of the April 2020 edition of Riau newspaper. Which the author uses is the theory proposed by Eni Setiati (2005). The research method used is content analysisi. Data collection techniques are documentation thecniques and hermeneutic thechniques. Data analysisit techniques used data reduction, data presentation and drawing conclusion. The interpretation of the data in this study is the misuse of the characteristics of journalistic languange in the headlines of the Riau Pos daily newspaper, namely that it has used the characteristics of journalistic languange, but there are still errors in the use of the characteristics of jornalistic languange. In the use of its characteristics, there are still errors, namely, (1) short aspect of 3 data, (2) Solid aspect of 5 data, (3) simple aspect of 2 data, (4) straight aspect of 5 data, (5) clear aspect of 9 data and (6) intersting aspect 1 data.
