Abstract

The background of the study is the low learning achievement of students at Mts Majmu'atul Ummah who need treatment to improve their cognitive learning achievement, especially in the subject of Al-Qur'an and Hadith even though the teacher has taught them with easy and comfortable methods such as the jama' method, the kitabah method, the wahdah method, the combined method and the sama'i method. Therefore, this study aims to investigate the effect of memorizing Al- Qur'an on students’ cognitive learning achievement in the subject of AlQur'an and Hadith. This is a quantitative study with a correlation approach. The subject of the study is the students in grade VIII and the object of the study is the students’ cognitive learning achievement in the subject of Al-Qur'an and Hadith in grade VIII at Mts Majmu'atul Ummah. The results of the study show that there is a significant effect of memorizing Al-Qur'an on students’ learning achievement in the subject of Al-Qur'an and Hadith by 54.5%. While the level of relationship between memorizing Al-Qur'an and cognitive learning achievement in the subject of Al-Qur'an and Hadith is 73.8% that includes in the strong category. It can be predicted that if the memorizing Al-Qur'an increases, the students’ cognitive learning achievement in the subject of Al-Qur'an and Hadith in grade VIII at Mts Majmu'atul Ummah will also increase.
