Abstract

This study aims to find out how the implementation of sharia-based human resource management at Akasia Sharia Hotel in Pekanbaru city. The method of this study is qualitative and the data collection is carried out by interviewing the informants, so that the researcher can explore and obtain further information about the implementation of sharia-based human resource management. The informants of this study are managers and employees of Akasia Sharia Hotel in Pekanbaru city. The results of this study show that the Akasia Sharia Hotel has implemented sharia-based human resource management, which is seen from the sharia specifications in the recruitment and selection for Muslim/Muslimah employees, the female employees must cover their genitals and all employees must be honest. While in the selection of prospective employees, the hotel conducts interviews, training and development of employees based on Sharia law as well as attending workshops with the students of IKPI (The Indonesian Hotel and Computer Institute). The assessment of sharia performances is carried out by assessing employees’ skills, abilities, and discipline, meanwhile the sharia compensation is given on time. In addition, the employees are also given holiday allowances or bonuses if the hotel earns more than the target revenue. The sharia-based human resource management can be implemented in the real situation of business management. However, all of the related aspects of management must be based on the commands and prohibitions of Allah SWT.
