Abstract

Language is divided into two parts, the first is spoken language and the second is written language. Spoken language is spoken utterance, while written language is utterance that is delivered in written form. Spoken language is related to culture, especially abstinence. Abstinences and prohibitions generally have certain goals and purposes, especially related to efforts to maintain balance and sustainability of life and social life. There is a kind of code in abstinence, for example, misery, calamity, disaster, and accident are a means or plan to strengthen the prohibitions contained in every prohibition. To find out how to study the code in the social life of society, a study is needed. One of the studies related to code is semiotics. Barthes (in Lantowa, et al, 2017:131) states that there are five codes consisting of hermeneutic, semik, symbolic, proaeretic, cultural. The problems of this research are: (1) What are the taboos in the Pengalihan Village Community, Enok Sub-district, Indragiri Hilir Regency?, (2) What is the code of abstinence in the Pengalihan Village Community, Enok Sub-district, Indragiri Hilir Regency?. The objectives of this study are as follows: to describe, analyze, interpret, and conclude the abstinence of the Pengalihan Village, Enok District, Indragiri Hilir Regency. The data and information collected are described, analyzed and interpreted in detail. The data source of this research is abstinence in the community of Pengalihan Village, Enok District, Indragiri Hilir Regency. The method used is descriptive method, which is defined as a problem solving procedure investigated by describing / describing the state of the research subject / object (a person, institution, community and others) at the present time based on the facts that appear, or as they are. Overall data contained in the taboo for the transfer village, Enok sub-district, Indragiri downstream, found 20 semiotic code data including: (1) hermeneutic code 1 data, (2) semitic code 4 data, (3) proaeretic code 7 data, (4) cultural code 8 data. Thus it can be concluded that the abstinence from prohibiting the transfer village of Enok sub-district, Indragiri downstream district has a Roland Barthes semiotic code.
