Abstract

Water as a natural resource has an important role in various aspects of social life, including determining the quality and sustainability of human life, as well as environmental development. The carrying capacity and quality of raw water in various locations are increasingly limited due to poor management of water catchment areas. Based on the Regulation of the Minister of Health No. 416 of 1990 concerning the requirements and supervision of water quality, it is necessary to carry out intensive and continuous monitoring of water quality. The availability of water for all needs tends to decrease both quantitatively and qualitatively, but on the other hand, water demand tends to increase, so water resources management problems always arise. Theoretically, the amount of water on earth is relatively constant, problems related to water availability arise as a result of the uneven distribution of water resources according to space and time, and management that does not pay attention to sustainability. Changes in land use have an impact on changes in the hydrological cycle and water storage (availability) in the soil which continues to decline due to reduced infiltration capacity and decreased infiltration rates. One of the potential water resources that has received much attention in relation to meeting the need for drinking water is rainwater. The imbalance of water supply during the rainy and dry seasons has become a common problem in many areas, including the Duri area.
