Abstract

In the field of civil engineering, land is a place where various types of construction or structures are established, both building structures and highway constructions. In construction work, the construction of a dirt highway is one that must be considered. The aim of the study was to determine the effective percentage in the addition of cement and phosphoric acid and the effect of the addition of phosphoric acid on changes in the CBR (California Bearing Ratio) value to the curing and soaking period. This research was carried out in the laboratory, by testing the physical properties of the soil and the bearing strength of the soil (CBR) with 10% cement mixed with the soil resulting in the exchange of alkaline cations (Na+ and K+) from the soil being replaced by cations from cement so that the grain size was reduced. the soil increased in size (flocculation) and variations in the addition of 3%, 6%, 9% and 12% phosphoric acid with curing and soaking time of 1, 4 days. For the CBR value in a mixture of 10% cement and 3% phosphoric acid during the 1 day curing period was 1.73%, 4 days was 1.75% and 1 day immersion was 1.32%, 4 days was 1.39%. The test results concluded that the highest CBR value was at 1 day ripening for native soils and 4 days curing for mixed soils. The length of time for curing and immersion is one of the factors that affect the value of the CBR, the longer the curing time, the higher the CBR value, and the longer the immersion, the lower the CBR value.
