Abstract

This research is motivated by the use of diction which includes the accuracy of the diction contained in the Editorial of the daily newspaper Tribun. The problem examined in this study is the use of accuracy of diction in the Editorial of the daily newspaper Tribun. The purpose of this research is to describe, analyze, and interpret the use of the correctness of diction in the Editorial of the daily newspaper Tribun. Theories used in this study are the theories of Keraf (2010) and Ramlan (1990). The data source used is Editorial of the daily newspaper Tribun 1 - 29 February 2020 and the data is in the form of diction. The method used is descriptive analysis method. This research approach is a qualitative approach. The type of research used is Library Reasearch (library research). The results of the study are data on the use of diction diction which the writer found in the form of avoiding the words of his own creation and pay attention to the continuity of word choices, while the accuracy of the diction data which the writer found in the form of carefully distinguishing denotation and connotation, carefully distinguishing words that are almost synonymous, alert to the use of foreign endings , use general words and special words carefully, and use sensory words that indicate special perceptions.
