Abstract

Abstract Language has a very important role in conveying information to the general public. One of them is through mass media such as the regional newspaper Riau Pos. In newspapers, you can find the use of new vocabulary or loan words in delivering news. One of them is in the Riau Pos newspaper. These absorption elements are used to make spelling from other languages into Indonesian. Therefore, this research examines the use of non-absorption in the editorial plan of the Riau Pos newspaper. The problems in this study are (1) What are the absorption elements contained in the editorial of the Riau Pos newspaper?, And (2) How is the use of absorption elements in the header of the Riau Pos newspaper? The objectives of this study were (1) to describe, analyze, identify, and conclude the absorption elements in the editorial of the Riau Pos newspaper, and (2) describe, realize, and interpret in detail the use of absorption so that the actual situation of absorption in Riau Pos newspaper editorial plan. The theory used in this study is the Ministry of Education and Culture (2016), Sabariyanto (2001) and other expert opinions relevant to this research. The data source in this research is the plan of the Riau Pos newspaper, the edition of November 1 to November 30, 2019. The method used is content analysis (content analysis), types of library research, and qualitative approaches. The data technique used in this research is the hermeneutic technique. As for the results of this study, there are 110 absorption elements in the editorial of the Riau Pos newspaper, consisting of absorption elements from Arabic, Dutch, Regional, English, and Sanskrit. Based on the use of absorption elements in the editorial plan of the Riau Pos newspaper, there are 110 absorption elements. Consists of 108 absorption element data that is suitable for use based on the rules of the General Guidelines for Indonesian Spelling (PUEBI) and 2 data on absorption elements that are not suitable for use based on the General Guidelines for Indonesian Spelling (PUEBI).
