Abstract

The success of government efforts in terms of improving the productivity, production, and income of farmers depends heavily on the ability to supply and implement production technologies that include superior varieties, quality seeds, and other cultivation equipment technologies. In order to solve the problem, the Integrated Plant Management Field School (SL-PTT) program was established. This program is expected to increase farmers' crops and income through improving the quality of human resources as well as the application of technology that suits the conditions of farmers and the local environment. The method of analysis used is the survey method with probability sampling. The data collected in this study is sourced from primary and secondary data.The data collected is processed using Path Analysis. The results of this study show that for achievement in terms of internal factors of farmers (age, formal education, nonformal education, farming experience, average income, pattern of farming, agricultural status, land area, agricultural orientation, membership status) is sufficient motivation for the development of farming that should be supported by the benefit. communication media in the form of direct or indirect interaction between farmers and researchers from the Ministry of Agriculture. The effectiveness of communication does not get significant results when associated with internal factors, due to many points of internal factors that have not had any real effect. The characteristics of external factors (agricultural institutional structure, accessibility, absolute terms and conditions for launching) have a very significant effect on the use of communication media and have no significant effect on the effectiveness of communication, this is because farmers only want to visit the SLPTT clinic if they find problems that are no longer available. can be resolved by them. The use of communication media has a significant effect on the knowledge and attitudes of farmers in solving problems that arise in the field. If the process of using communication media runs well, it will have a positive effect on the effectiveness of communication in the SL-PTT program in Birandang Island Village, Kampar Regency.
