Abstract

This study aims to find out how the relationship between students' perceptions of pedagogical competence of biology teachers on the biology learning achievements of class X students of SMA Budi Dharma Dumai. The teacher's pedagogic competency uses indicators based on Minister of Education Regulation No. 16 of 2007 concerning the standard of academic qualifications and teacher competency which consists of 10 indicators. This research was conducted at Budi Dharma Dumai High School from January to March 2019. The population of this study was class X students totaling 142 students and sampling techniques using Slovin formula as many as 60 students and 1 principal and 1 biology teacher. The method used in this study is the correlational method. The technique of collecting data uses observation, questionnaires, interviews, and documentation. While data analysis techniques use validity and reliability tests, descriptive statistical analysis, and test coefficient of determination. Testing the hypothesis in this study found that there is a strong relationship between student perceptions of the pedagogical competence of biology teachers on biology learning outcomes of Budi Dharma Dumai High School students that is equal to 0.60 <0.700 <0.799 (strong) and the strength of the relationship is 82.1%. Thus, if the teacher's pedagogical competence has been implemented properly, it will have an effect on student learning outcomes.
