Abstract

This study aims to collect data and find out the functions and forms of Pangean Silat in the Association of Confident Swordsmen, Sialang Rampai Village, Kulim District, Pekanbaru City. The theory used in the function of silat is Erwin Setyo Kriswanto (2015) and in the form of silat it uses the theory of Mulyana (2013). The research method used is a qualitative descriptive method. Data collection techniques are observation techniques, interview techniques and documentation techniques. In this Pangean silat function there are several functions, namely as 1). Spiritual, namely to get closer to God, 2). Arts, namely as entertainment such as weddings, 3). Self-defense, which is to defend oneself or protect oneself from opponents, 4). Sports, namely to make the body healthier. In terms of form, this Pangean silat consists of: 1). Attitudes, which are divided into two, namely basic attitudes (physical attitudes) and spiritual attitudes (mental and mind readiness), 2). Horses, namely the basic attitude in silat Pangean, 3). The Pair attitude, in Pangean silat, is the attitude and movement of preparedness in facing an opponent to make a patterned defense or attack. 4). Step motion, in Pangean silat, namely the Ompek Step Movement (four), namely the movement of the feet by stepping forward or backward as much as four steps and a combination with moving the hands, 5). Attacks, in the Pangean silat, are the movement of tapping or swinging, Tenju motion, Popat or slashing motion (hand that resembles a sword), and stabbing.
