Abstract

The crime of spreading false news in the jurisdiction of the Riau Police has greatly improved than before, especially the Cyber patrols which are carried out once a month by the Riau Police Ditreskrimsus to follow up on crimes that exist in cyberspace or electronics that are currently rife. it happens with uploads that violate the rule of law itself. The problems in this research are as follows, namely what are the factors that cause the occurrence of hoaxes in the Riau Regional Police's jurisdiction and how are efforts to overcome hoaxes in the Riau Regional Police's jurisdiction. While the research method While this research method is empirical or sociological, namely by means of a survey, in which the author goes directly to the research location to obtain the necessary data by using data collection tools in the form of interviews. The nature of this research is descriptive, which means that this research provides a clear and detailed description of the results of research on the factors that cause hoaxes in the Riau Regional Police jurisdiction and efforts to overcome hoaxes in the Riau Regional Police jurisdiction. There are also factors that cause the occurrence of criminal acts of fake news in the jurisdiction of the Riau Police, namely due to humanitarian factors (Human Error), group interest factors and technological factors that are being advanced and the lack of education carried out by law enforcement officers specifically in the jurisdiction of the Riau Police. society that uses technology in today's modern times. Efforts to overcome the crime of hoax (hoax) in the jurisdiction of the Riau Police, which so far have occurred in the jurisdiction of the Riau Police have disrupted public order and disturbed and stirred the virtual world of the circulation of videos on Yotube under the name of Irdamsyah in Pekanbaru, Riau. Therefore, overcoming the crime of fake news (Hoax) in the jurisdiction of the Riau Police in Hoax criminal cases must be needed by way of socialization and this is very important to do in the process of preventing hoax information on social media, in this way we are able to instill values / norms – a good norm for social media users.
