Abstract

DIFFERENCES OF PROSOCIAL BEHAVIOR BASED ON PARENTING AT SMAN 2 PANGKALAN KURAS HERMYNDA MISDA WINDARTI 178110136 FACULTY OF PSYCHOLOGY ISLAMIC UNIVERSITY OF RIAU ABSTRACT Factors that support adolescents to carry out prosocial behavior are factors from the family, namely parenting. This study examines democratic and authoritarian parenting. Democratic parenting is parenting where this pattern teaches children to practice independently, but remains within the reach and control of their parents, while authoritarian parenting is parenting that requires children to obey the rules set by parents without asking for opinions. to the child first. The purpose of this study was to determine whether there were differences in prosocial behavior based on parenting at SMAN 2 Pangkalan Kuras. The subjects of this study amounted to 206 students of SMAN 2 Pangkalan Kuras. The sampling technique used is random sampling. The data collection method in this study used a scale, namely the prosocial behavior scale of 19 items, the democratic parenting style scale of 16 items, and the authoritarian parenting style scale of 21 items. Analysis of the data used in this study is the Mann U Whitney Test with the results of the Asymp value. Signature. (2-tails) 0.006 < 0.05. With an average value of 60.0113 for democratic parenting, while for authoritarian parenting it has a value of 56.7931, it can be concluded that there are differences in prosocial behavior between democratic and authoritarian parenting.
