Abstract

This study tries to explore how TikTok social media affect teenagers self-disclosure. With a range of intriguing features, TikTok users can freely channel their creativity, express themselves, and create new abilities that were previously unknown or unowned, allowing hidden talents to be revealed. Individuals do and express their creativity in an unknown context, therefore self-disclosure is common in content production. In this instance, the individual will decide on self-disclosure throughout content development in order to demonstrate his ability. The research subjects are three TikTok users, and the study employs a qualitative method, a phenomenological approach, and data gathering procedures such as observation, interviews and documentation. The findings revealed that informants experiences with TikTok as a hidden talent were divided into three categories: TikTok as a medium for self-talent disclosure, TikTok content topics, and feedback on TikTok self-talent disclosure, as well as three meanings: TikTok as entertainment media, information media, expressing annoyance, filling spare time, content as self-assurance, self-expression, and a way to pass the time, also the meaning of feedback as confirmation that others appreciate the material provided, fulfillment of other people’s expectations, and self-evaluation.
