Abstract

Air Pollution Due To The Burning Of Palm Oil Empty Bunches (Study in Teluk Mega Village, Tanah Putih District, Rokan Hilir Regency) Abstract Muhammad Najrul Fidli NPM: 177510488 The burning activity of palm oil empty bunches has an impact on the environment such as air pollution. The impact of that burning activity is smog which is generated from the burning process of the oil palm empty bunches. This study aims to know how the burning activity of palm oil’s empty bunches that always done has an impact on the environment and society. The location of this research is Teluk Mega Village, Tanah Putih District, Rokan Hilir Regency. The method used in this research is a qualitative method with a phenomenological approach. The burning activity of palm oil empty bunches has been going on for more than 20 years, because the lack of jobs. This makes this activity continue and becomes an economic source for the local community. This The burning activity of palm oil empty bunches has an impact on the environment and society. The impact received by the people who live around the place where the palm oil’s empty bunches burning, and it is causes air pollution. The air pollution is also has an impact on people health such as respiratory problems and sore eyes due to the smoke haze that produced. The absence of education from relate agency about the burning of palm oil empty bunches causes the problems which is lead to environmental crimes.
