Abstract

Interpersonal Communication between Parents and Children in an Effort to Overcome Online Game in Children Vini Elvionita 179110067 Technological developments have led to various things only by relying on the internet, one of which is online games, which make the players forget about other activities. With this phenomenon, this child in the Promise Raja Village, Bangun Purba Timur Jaya Village, Rokan Hulu Regency, is indicated to be addicted to playing online games. Which has a very negative impact on children's lives, therefore parents need to make good interpersonal communication in an effort to overcome online game in children. This study uses a qualitative method, which aims to understand the phenomenon of what is experienced by the research subject. Here, parents will interact in the form of communication with their children, aiming to overcome online game in their children. Factors causing addiction online games in children are influenced by internal and external factors. In the communication process between parents and children in this study, there are several characteristics of interpersonal communication, namely involving at least two people, influenced by context, not having purpose, not having to use words, not having to face to face, influenced by noise, and feedback and generate influence. The characteristics of interpersonal communication between parents and children in this study are as expected, because after interpersonal communication between parents and children takes place, an influence is obtained, in which children who are addicted to online games experience behavioral changes and social changes and are free from gameonline , because the communication provided by parents to their children is effective.
