Abstract

This type of research is an explanatory quantitative study which aims to see the effect of interest and learning skills on student learning outcomes at SMAN 7 Pekanbaru and glance at the influence of interest and learning skills on learning outcomes in students of SMAN 7 Pekanbaru. The subjects of this study were all students of class XI IPS SMAN 7 Pekanbaru who used 119 students, the sample was taken using random sampling. The variables used in this study were reading interest and learning skills as independent variables and learning outcomes as the dependent variable. The data collection technique used in this study was a questionnaire technique. The results of using the SPSS program showed that the significant value for the interest variable was 0.000, so it could be tested that there was an influence between reading interest on student learning outcomes at SMAN 7 Pekanbaru. For the learning skills variable, it is known that the significant results are 0.000 so that it can show that there is an effect of learning skills on student learning outcomes of SMAN 7 Pekanbaru. The results are not known to have a significant value of 0.000 so that it can test the effect of reading interest and learning skills on student learning outcomes at SMAN 7 Pekanbaru. The result of the calculation of the determinant coefficient shows that the influence between X1 and X2 on Y is 0.573 or 57.3%, while the rest is 42.7%. Other factors are not disclosed in the study. The benefits of research for students, can increase interest and learning skills in the learning process in an effort to obtain good and optimal learning outcomes for teachers, in order to provide reading interest and more learning skills to students with low learning outcomes so that the teaching and learning process can take place effectively, for The next researcher used references to add other variables that could affect student learning outcomes in addition to reading interest and learning skills.
