Abstract
This study aims to determine the meaning of violence through the characters in it. This series is qualitative research using John Fiske's semiotics method. John Fiske's semiotic approach introduces the concept of the codes of television or television codes which have three levels, namely the level of reality, the level of representation, and the level of ideology. The concept shows the code used and appears on a television show and how these codes are related to each other in forming a meaning. The results of this study indicate that, 1) Level of Reality, namely the dialogue scene, behavior, facial expressions, hand movements, and sounds made by the participants and soldiers in the game shows that there is a meaning of violence in the Squid Game series. 2) Level of Representation, namely the technique of camera angles, displacement, and sound arrangement so that the meaning of violence is seen more clearly. 3) Ideology level, namely the Squid Game Series, which shows the ideology of capitalism, Oh Ill Nam, who wants to have fun before his death, makes a children's game that risks all participants' lives.
