Abstract

This study aims to determine the Vocal Theater Technique at the Riau Art Tribe Creative House Theater Arts Studio in Pekanbaru City, Riau Province. The theory used in the study uses the theory according to Marhalim (2015) about Vocal Techniques in the theater. The technique used, breathing, articulation, gesture, intonation and voice color. The author's research method uses a qualitative research form focusing on data that is in accordance with the facts in the field. The data collection techniques that the author uses are observation, interview, and documentation techniques. The results of this study are the importance of an actor's vocal ability is the main requirement in playing a role in theater arts, vocal ability is very important to convey ideas, information, events, and so on. Before performing a theatrical vocal technique, an actor must perform the most important elements in a theatrical vocal technique consisting of breathing, articulation, gesticulation, intonation and voice color. So the vocal is a very important role in the world of theater. Creating actors with theater vocal equipment, so that they are able to adjust the size of the vocal volume, and according to the conditions needed when carrying out a dialogue in playing theatre, thus being able to act as if it were real life in playing a role. Because it is used as a communication tool in the form of dialogue between fellow actors while on stage.
