Abstract

The background of this research is to find out the juridical review of underage marriages based on Law Number 16 of 2019 Amendments to Law Number 1 of 1974 concerning Marriage in Dayun District, Siak Regency. So it is necessary to discuss the factors that occur in underage marriages and the consequences of underage marriages based on the law. Based on this background, the main problem in this research is what are the factors for the occurrence of underage marriages and what are the consequences of underage marriages based on the law. By using normative juridical research methods to understand and approach the object of research. Normative juridical research supported by interview data with informants. Sources of data used are secondary data and primary data and analyzed using a qualitative approach. The results of the research on the causes of underage marriages are the lack of attention and affection from parents so that with these factors, underage marriages can occur, then poverty and economic factors are also the triggers for this underage marriage and the last is the biggest trigger. Namely the factor of pregnancy outside of marriage is a factor that often occurs so that underage marriages are carried out. In addition to these factors, there are also consequences after the occurrence of underage marriages, namely in the form of divorce which often occurs because of an immature attitude and do not want to give in to each other, then domestic violence also often occurs as a result of this underage marriage.
