Abstract

The era of the information society is an era where people are required to be able to control and filter information that is very widely spread so that good information can be used in carrying out this life. Podcast is one of the media that is currently used by the public to find this information. Information is an important part of society in carrying out this life. This research method uses a qualitative method with a descriptive approach. Data collection techniques used in this study are observation, interview research subjects, and documentation. The data analysis used in this study uses an interactive model which consists of three stages, namely data reduction (data reduction), data presentation (display), and conclusions (conclusion drawing/verifiying). The subject of this research is one of the podcasts in the city of Pekanbaru called the S Experience Podcast. The results of this study indicate that podcast media is able to carry out its role as a medium of information in the community due to factors such as there is a term called theater of mind where someone tends to be more sensitive in terms of listening than seeing, by listening, our imagination will work to imagine what is heard. After that, podcast media is a flexible medium, where we can use it under any circumstances because it is only an audio medium and we can also choose what information we want to hear from which podcaster. This convenience is what makes podcasts accepted by the public
