Abstract

Criminological Review of Traffic Violations Committed by Children in the Mining Sector Police Legal Area. In an atmosphere of technological progress like today, children are increasingly dominant in committing traffic violations such as riding motorbikes and not wearing driving equipment, children who are not yet 17 years old are not allowed to drive motorized vehicles according to Law No. 22 of 2009 concerning traffic and transportation violations. the way, in this case the author raises the formulation of the problem regarding 1) what are the factors that cause children to commit violations? 2) how to prevent traffic violations committed by children? This type of research is legal research descriptive analysis. This study aims to determine the factors that cause traffic violations committed by children in the Mining Sector Legal Area, as well as to determine the prevention and control efforts of traffic violations committed by children in the Mining Sector Police Legal Area. The causes of traffic violations committed by children cannot be separated from the driving or motivational factors so that a child commits a delinquency / violation. The factors that influence children to commit traffic violations are in the Mining Sector Police Legal area, namely 1) the child's intelligence (knowledge) factor: in this case the influence of the child's age and intelligence knowledge, 2) the child's own parental factor: almost all of the child's parents in the research the author facilitates and gives permission to motorcyclists, 3) Education and School factors: there is no warning and gives knowledge to children not to commit violations in this case riding a motorcycle to school, 4) children's social environment factors: indoors The scope of children in their homes and schools who commit traffic violations has become a habit. Because children are considered not to understand the risk of violations that lead to traffic accidents such as serious injuries or death, the Mining Police Traffic Unit makes efforts to prevent traffic violations in this study, namely: 1) prevention using preventive efforts in the form of socialization / legal counseling to the community especially parents who have children who ride motorbikes in their daily lives and socialize/counsel to schools 2) prevent using repressive measures, namely taking action after a violation (ticketing) with the aim that children have a deterrent effect from repeating traffic violations in the future.
