Abstract

Wara' is the carefulness characteristic on handling a matter, abstaining from all things forbidden by Allah, both illegal and unlawful. This character is closely related to the traits of a Qur'an memorizing student who needs to take care of himself, such as guarding honor, guarding ablution, guarding his views, maintaining his manners, keeping his clothes, guarding his behavior, keeping his speech to maintain the nature of all actions in daily life. This study aims to determine the description of wara‟ characteristic on Qur‟an memorizing students in Pekanbaru. Subjects in this study are 190 Qur'an memorizing students selected by Quota sampling. The data collection instruments is a scale of wara‟ character which consists of 43 items compiled by Bagdina and Purnamasari. Meanwhile, the analysis used is descriptive statistical analysis. The study result shows that the wara' characteristic of Qur'an memorizing students in Pekanbaru, generally, is in the moderate category, 45.8% as many as 87 people. Based on gender aspect, there is no difference the level of wara' characteristic possessed by Qur'an memorizing students. The analysis results viewed from the number of memorization there is significant differences in the level of wara' characteristic possessed by students, the students who have memorized 16-30 juz, generally, is in the high category while students who have memorized 1-15 juz the majority are in the moderate category. Furthermore, if it viewed by age there is no significant difference in the level of wara' characteristic possessed by Qur‟an memorizing students in Pekanbaru.
