Abstract

One of the most popular social media among teenagers is Instagram. As a communication medium that is loved by many young people, especially teenagers, Instagram currently has the fourth highest rank as one of the most downloaded applications in Indonesia. The purpose of this study was to find out and analyze the influence of Instagram social media on the lifestyle of teenagers in Rawang Empat Village, Bandar Petalangan District, Pelalawan Regency. This research is included in the type of correlational research by determining the number of samples as many as 57 people. Data was collected by means of observation and distributing questionnaires. Then the data that has been collected is analyzed using a Linear Regression approach through the help of the SPSS program. The results of the study concluded that teenagers had used Instagram accounts and took advantage of all the features on Instagram as a medium of communication. The lifestyle of teenagers in the Rawang Empat Village, Bandar Petalangan Subdistrict, Pelalawan Regency is shown to have carried out activities with playmates, had the desired interests, and expressed opinions on something that was being discussed and was happening. Overall, it can be concluded that there is an influence of social media Instagram on the lifestyle of teenagers by 60.7% in the Rawang Empat Village, Bandar Petalangan District, Pelalawan Regency.
