Abstract

Newspapers are a medium of information read by the public. Thus, the use of language has an important role to make newspapers, especially journalism, so that language errors do not occur. However, language errors are still found in newspaper headers Republika at the syntactic level in the field of phrases and sentences. Language error it happens because of a lack of understanding of the rules of the Indonesian language write a story. The problems in this research are 1. What is the language error at the syntactic level of the phrase field in the Headers Newspaper Republika ?, 2. How is the language error at the syntactic level sentence field in the Headline of the Republika newspaper ?. The purpose of this research to describe, classify and analyze language errors syntactic level in the field of phrases and sentences in the Headline of the Republika newspaper so as to get the actual results. This type of research is research qualitative descriptive method. The data in this study are errors language in the field of phrases and sentences can be found in the headline of the Republika newspaper. The theory used refers to the various theories put forward by Setyawati (2010) and Tarigan (2011). Techniques for data collection using documentation and Content Analysis (Content Analysis). Results of data analysis which has been done in the Headline of the Republika newspaper, an error was found phrase field as many as 35 errors, namely the use of inappropriate prepositions, excessive or redundant use of elements and superlative forms exaggerated. The sentence field error found 80 errors i.e. the sentence was not subjected and not predicated (stump sentence), omission of conjunctions, excessive use of conjunctions, using foreign terms and use unnecessary question words. So it is a level language error The syntax in the Header of the Republika newspaper found 115 errors.
