Abstract

Phubbing is someone indifference behavior to other people. They just focused to Smartphone compared make a dialogue with other people in their influence. In progress of the technology, smartphone also will be one of many factors someone become a Phubber. The aim of this research is to find out how does the Phubbing phenomenon in Islamic University of Riau in Faculty of Communication Science and the what are the factors affects which caused by Phubber in their influence. This phenomenon is an occasion that can we see from scientific glasses and certain disciplines. According to students from Faculty of Communication Science, they can be a Phubber because they felt bored with their influence. In this research, the researcher used qualitative methods with insidental technique, which is the subject of this research are the students from Faculty of Communication Science of Islamic University of Riau. There are 4 students that selected and suitable criteria for this research. The data gained by the researcher from inteview, observation and documentation. The students become a Phubber because they feel interest to always using smartphone and look for anything in smartphone.
