Abstract

Journalistic language must have the main characteristic that is in accordance with the rules of Enhanced Spelling (EYD). But at this time EYD has officially been not used anymore and changed to General Guidelines for Indonesian Spelling (PUEBI) November 26, 2015. The rubric according to KBBI (2008: 1186) is the head of a bouquet or permanent space in a newspaper. The number of educational rubrics available in the Riau Pos newspaper is varied in terms of numbers and is not permanent. After reading the education rubric of the Riau Pos newspaper in the August 2019 edition, several errors were found in the writing of capital letters or the incorrect use of capital letters. The problem in this study is How to Use Capital Letter in the Education Rubric in Riau Post Newspaper Edition 1-31 August 2019 ?. The purpose of this study is to Describe, Analyze, and interpret the 13 use of educational capital rubric letters in the Riau Post newspaper edition 1-31 August 2019. The data source of this study is the Koran Riau Pos Edition 1- 31 August 2019, amounting to 65 Education news. The methodology used is the type of library research. The approach used is a qualitative approach while the method used is a descriptive method. In analyzing the author's data using several relevant theories, namely Kep.Mendikbud 2011, Hamidy 2003, Sugiono 2008, Sumarta 2013 and Tinambunan 2017. The results of this study were reviewed from the use of capital letters in the Education Rubric in the Riau Post Newspapers that have been determined. The use of capital letters refers to the 13 use of capital letters in the General Guidelines for Improved Indonesian Spelling (PUEBI). However, there are still some errors in the use of capital letters in the Riau Pos Newspaper Education Rubric. The conclusion of this study is that the use of capital letters in the Education Rubric in the Riau Post Newspaper, there are 7 mistakes in the use of capital letters in the Riau Newspaper Education rubric. The use of capital letters at the beginning of the sentence there are 33 data. The use of capital letters as the first letter of the direct quote there is 1 data. The use of capital letters as the first letter of the name element of the honorary title, and the religion followed by the person's name there is 1 data. The use of capital letters as the first letter of the elements of the position and rank followed by the name of the person or as a substitute for the name of a certain person, the name of the agency, or the name of the place there is 1 data The use of capital letters as the first letter of the name of the nation, ethnicity, and language contained 1 data. Use of capital letters as the first letter of geographic name 6 data. The use of capital letters as the first letters of the perfect re-form of the names of bodies, government institutions and state administration, as well as official documents, there are 3 data.
