Abstract

This research was carried out in downstream Indargiri Regency while the purpose of this study was to determine the role of the agricultural sector on economic growth in the downstream Indragiri Regency and to determine the role of the agricultural sector in labor absorption in the downstream Indragiri Regency. The type of data used in this research is secondary data where the data is obtained from the field or information published by agencies or institutions related to research. And the source of the data in this study came from the Central Statistics Agency (bps) of Riau Province, GRDP of Riau Province ADH was valid and KONstan, GRDP of Indragiri downstream Regency was valid and Constant and the total workforce of all sectors in downstream Indragiri Regency. This study uses the location quotient (LQ) method, namely by comparing the GDP of sector I at the downstream Indragiri district level to the GDP of the downstream Indragiri district with the relative share of the GDP of sector I in the Riau province to the total GDP with the LQ formula. Agriculture on economic growth shows the LQ value from 2014 to 2018 1 which means the agricultural sector has great potential and prospects and the role of the agricultural sector in employment in the downstream Indargiri district, the labor supply rate for the agricultural sector is 2.35.
