Abstract

This study aims to determine how the teacher's role in motivating student learning in dance subjects (Bedana Dance) in class X IPA 1 of SMA Negeri 3 Mandau T.A 2019/2020. The method used in this research is purposive method based on qualitative data. The subjects involved 1 art and culture teacher who taught in class X, and 9 students of class X Ipa 1 who were considered to know more about what researchers expected. The data collection used is observation, interview and documentation. The research site is in Tuanku Tambusai Street No. 42 Balai Makam Mandau District Bengkalis Regency. The theory used in this research is (Wina Sanjaya, 2008: 288-290) which reveals that the teacher's role in fostering student motivation consists of 1) clarifying the objectives to be achieved, 2) generating student interest, 3) creating a pleasant atmosphere in learning, 4) give reasonable praise for each student's success, 5) give an assessment, 6) give a comment on the results of student work, 7) create competition and cooperation. Data analysis techniques used in this study are data reduction, data display, and conclusion data then verified. The results of the study the role of teachers in motivating student learning in dance subjects (Dance Bedana) in class X IPA 1 SMA Negeri 3 Mandau teachers provide a very large influence on student learning outcomes, encouragement from teachers has a positive impact that causes motivation in students to continue to learn and the results obtained by students are increasing the student interest in dance has increased so that it becomes a talent for him to obtain good results. The role of the teacher in motivating students in dance in SMA 3 Mandau has been going well by the subject teacher of Cultural Arts. This can be seen from every activity of the teacher in the teaching and learning process in class X SMA Negeri 3 Mandau.
