Abstract

This study aims to find out how the performance of art and culture teachers in class VIII in learning dance in SMPN 5 Tanah Putih Rokan Hilir District Riu Province. The method used in this research is descriptive qualitative approach. Data collection used is observation, interview, and documentation. Subjects in this study amounted to 4 people consisting of 1 school principal, 1 art and culture teacher, and 2 students of class VIIIb in SMPN 5 Tanah Putih Rokan Hilir District Riau Province. The place of research is at SMPN 5 Tanah Putih Rokan Hilir District Riau Province on the causeway Sumatra Utara Cempedak Rahuk Village Tanah Putih District Rokan Hilir District Riau Province. The theory used in this research is (Rusman, 2013:75). Data analysis techniques used in the study are data reduction, data display, and conclusion making then verified. From the results of the research in the field it can be conluded that before the techer starts the teaching and learning process he first prepares the teachers planning activities namely in the form RPP, Silabus, Prota, Promes, and mastery of the material being taught. In learning activities the teacher divides into 4 meetings namely 12 hours of lessons. In class management the teacher always creates a comfortable and conducive learning atmosphere. Learning media used are cultural art books and the latest literary literature. Learnig methods used are lecture, discussion, and answer methods. The evaluation a written test and practice.
